PHA INDUCED RAT T-LYMPHOCYTE TRANSFOR MATION IN VIVO[J]. Journal of Chongqing Medical University, 1987,(2):80-83. DOI: 10.13406/j.cnki.cyxb.1987.02.002.
After three consecutive intramuscular doses of PHA
the percentage of lymphoblasts in the rat peripheral blood increased significantly by three times as that of those injected with normal saline. The response to PHA was strictly dose-dependent and could be totally suppressed by cyclophosphamide. But a single intravenous dose of PHA failed to increase the percentage of peripheral blood lymphoblasts in rats although the lymphatic tissue showed a similar response. This response could be regarded as an indicator of T-lymphocyte function in vivo
and therefore PHA-induced lymphocyte transformation in vivo may be a potential new method for detecting lymphocyte function
