Abstract

In this study the plasma exchange (PE) using Hydroxy-ethyl starch injection as the plasma substitute had been investigated in healthy rats and dogs as well as in the rats with Ga1N-induced liver damage.It is suggested that when there is shortage of fresh freezing plasma during PE the Hydroxy-ethyl Starch injection is a promising agent for plasma substitute of PE if the subject is without obvious liver damage and its infusion volume adequately controlled.
