The history of critical care medicine has developed from respiratory failure treatment and artificial ventilation. Seemly to medical history of western countries

the history of Chinese pulmonary medicine started from tuberculosis diagnosis and treatment.Along with the medical progress

the pulmonary physicians face more patients who suffering from respiratory diseases

such as lung infection

acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(AECOPD)

acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS)

and etc

which require the pulmonary physicians grasp the techniques of treating respiratory failure. Therefore

that of combining with pulmonary and critical care medicine(PCCM)is the only way for pulmonary medicine development. As the leaders of pulmonary medicine

we should pay more attention to the construction of building PCCM system

bring up the young physicians on PCCM training

for the future.
