Objective:To retrospectively analyze the impact of continuous invasive intracranial pressure(ICP)monitoring on the prognosis of children with severe traumatic brain injury. Methods:The clinical data of 80 children with severe traumatic brain injury from the Children’s Hospital of Chongqing Medical University were retrospectively analyzed. Fifty children with severe traumatic brain injury after surgery were treated with continuous invasive ICP monitoring while 30 children with severe traumatic brain injury were observed without continuous invasive ICP monitoring. According to prognostic assessment criteria(discharge mortality;Glasgow outcome scale
GOS)
the effects were evaluated. Results :The mortality of ICP monitoring group was obviously lower than that of contrast group
indicating that the ICP monitoring can effectively control mortality. Better prognosis was observed in ICP monitoring group than in contrast group according to GOS. Conclusion:For children with severe head trauma
continuous invasive ICP monitoring is helpful in objective assessment of intracranial pressure severity
