Objective:To evaluate the association of octamer-binding transcription factor 4(OCT4)positive expressions with clinicpathological characteristics of non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)by using meta-analysis. Methods:Case-control studies published until March 2016 involving the correlation between OCT4 and clinic-pathological features of NSCLC were electronically searched in Pub Med
Embase
CNKI
VIP and Wanfang database. Two reviewers independently screened the articles
extracted the data and evaluated the quality of the selected articles based on the recommendation of Cochrane collaboration. And Meta-analysis was performed by using Revman 5.2 and Stata 12.0 software. Results:Ten articles containing 796 cases among which there were 471 cases in OCT4 positive group and 434 cases in OCT negative group were included. Meta results showed that positive expressions of OCT4 had close correlations with adenocarcinoma(OR=1.75
95%CI=1.22 to 2.53
P =0.003)
poor differentiation(OR =2.93
95% CI =1.25
6
.84
P =0.010)
moderate differentiation(OR=1.81
95%CI=1.12 to 2.94
P=0.020)
T3/T4 stage of primary tumor(OR=1.95
95%CI=1.10 to3.45
P=0.020)and short postoperative lifetime(squamous cell carcinoma:MD=-4.49
95%CI=-7.73 to-1.55
P=0.003;adenocarcinoma:MD=-8.52
95%CI=-9.82 to-7.23
P=0.000)
and low overall survival rate(HR=1.99
95%CI=1.52 to 2.60)
all differences were statistically significant. Conclusion:Positive expressions of OCT4 may be associated with adenocarcinoma
malignant features of NSCLC and poor prognosis
which can provide reliable scientific evidence for targeted therapy.
