Objective:To analyze the clinical characteristics of cluster headache(CH). Methods:Retrospective analysis of 32 patients with CH referred to the neurological clinic from September 2013 to November 2015 in the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical was made. Data of demographic and clinical characteristics of these patients were investigated. The information of treatment was collected through follow-up phone calls. Results:Of the 32 CH patients
21 are males and 11 are females(male:female=1.9:1)
with the average age of 29.6 years at onset. The mean latency was 10.6 years before diagnosis. Cranial autonomic features were presented in 93.8% patients
and lacrimation(75.0%) was the most common one. Nausea(56.3%)
vomiting(28.1%)
photophobia(37.5%)and phonophobia(53.1%)may accompany CH. All patients were diagnosed to have episodic cluster headache(ECH)
while chronic cluster headache(CCH)was absent. Before or during attacks
no patients had aura symptom. Twenty-one CH patients used rizatriptan benzoate for acute cluster attacks and 61.9 % reported effective. For preventive therapy
15 CH patients used prednisolone tablets and 7 patients used verapamil; 80.0 % and 57.1 % reported to be effective respectively. Conclusion:The mean latency of CH is longer in China than in western countries
so clinicians should pay more attention to the diagnosis of CH.
