Objective:To discuss the relationship between coping style and emotion in the lung cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy
and to discuss the effects of progressive muscle relaxation training(PMRT)psychological and behavioral intervention on their coping styles. Methods:This was a experimental research;90 lung cancer patients were divided into intervention group(44 cases)and control group(46 cases). Patients in the intervention group was given PMRT for 21 d(one cycle of chemotherapy)while those in control group received conventional treatment and care. Medical coping modes questionnaire(MCMQ)and profile of mood states scale(POMS)were used to analyze the condition and results of the patients. Results:Besides the score of confusion-bewilderment subscale(r=0
136
P=0.210)
all the subscales of patients’ emotional states had significantly correlation with yield coping(P<0.05);all the subscales of patients’ emotions had no significant correlation with face-to-face or avoid coping(P >0.05). The face-to-face coping(18.37±1.63)of the patients in the intervention group changed significantly after the intervention(P2=0.000)
while the avoid(P2=0.417) and yield coping(P2=0.774) didn’t change significantly. Compared with the control group(18.13 ±1.26) the intervention group was more inclined to take the face-to-face coping style(P4=0.000). Conclusion:PMRT can positively change the lung cancer patients’ coping style and is conducive to the recovery of the disease.
