Objective:To study the effects of drug treatment in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) . Methods: We compared the degree of the morning stiffness and the number of swelling and aching joints and the change of ESR

CRP and RF in RA patients between group A treated with small dose methotrexate (MTX) and Huobahua-gen and group B with Huobahua-gen alone. We also observed these changes in all patients between pre-treatment and post-treatment. Results: Compared with the patients in pre-treatment

the clinical situation and experiment findings were much ameliorated after treatment in the two groups (P<0.01). Clinical observation manifested that clinical remission rate and efficient rate reached to 25% and 45% in group A

which were much higher than those in group B (5.7% and 17.1%) (P<0.01). After therapy for 3 months

a significant difference of the clinical manifestations and experiment findings were found between group A and group B (P<0.01). Conclusion: The amelioration effect of all kinds of clinical manifestations and experiment findings in RA were improved much better after therapy with micro dose MTX and Huobahua-Gen than those treated with Huobahua-gen alone

and there were little adverse effects.
