Objective:To investigate the indicative value of the serum leptin level in obesity and non-obesity PCOS patients treated with insulin-sensitizing agent rosiglitazone.Methods:73 PCOS patients were divided into obesity(43)and non-obesity group(30).The changes of the serum leptin level and the relevant indexes were observed before and after treament with rosiglitazone. Results:the leptin level of PCOS groups was higher than that in control and the level in obesity PCOS patients was higher than that in non-obesity PCOS patients both before and after treatment. After treatment
the leptin levels in both PCOS groups were all significantly decreased
greater decrease in obesity group.Correlation:analysis revealed that the leptin level had positive correlation with BMI
FINS and LH
but negative correlation with the HGCT.Conclusion serum leptin level has some indicative value in the assessment of insulin-sensitizing agent in treating PCOS.
