Objective:To study the relationship of the angiotensinⅡtypeⅠreceptor(AT1R)gene polymorphisms with the essential hy-pertension(EH)in Chongqing. Methods:The AT1R gene polymorphism(an A→C transversion at nucleotide position1166)were detected by polymerase chain reaction(PCR)and restriction fragment length polymorphism(RFLP)in 104 EH patients and 100 normal controls. Results:The frequencies of AC genotype and C1166 allele of AT1R gene of the EH patients were obviously higher than those of the normal controls(AC genotype:0.240 vs 0.005
P<0.05;Callele:0.130 vs 0.025
P<0.05)
There were both having significance difference
but the frequency of the AA genotype was obviously lower than the normal controls.Furthermore
we discovered infrequent CC genotype in EH patients. The items of rest have no significative difference in two groups.Conclusion:A1166C polymorphism of AT1R gene was associated with essential hypertension in Chongqing.
