Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of thunder-fire moxibustion combined with electroacupuncture on lumbodorsal myofascitis and its influence on lumbodorsal muscle strength. Methods Ninety-three patients with lumbodorsal myofascitis admitted to General Hospital of PLA Northern Theater Command from October 2019 to February 2021 were selected as the study subjects and assigned to the observation group(46 cases) and the control group(47 cases) by the random number table. The patients in the control group received electroacupuncture
and the patients in the observation group received thunder-fire moxibustion on top of the treatment in the control group. The clinical efficacy
symptom score
pain degree
and lower back muscle strength before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results The overall response rate(ORR) of the observation group was 91.30%
which was significantly higher than that of the control group(72.34%)(χ~2=5.597
P=0.018). After treatment
the four symptom scores and total scores of rest pain
tenderness
lumbar joint range of motion
and walking activity ability in the two groups were lower than those before treatment
and the observation group was lower than the control group
and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). The VAS
Pain Rating Index(PRI) and Present Pain Intensity(PPI) scores of the two groups after treatment were significantly lower than those before treatment
with the observation group lower than the control group(P<0.05). The flexion and extension muscle strength scores of the patients in the 2 groups after treatment were significantly higher than those before treatment
with the observation group higher than the control group(P<0.05). No significant adverse reactions were observed in the 2 groups during treatment. Conclusion Thunder-fire moxibustion combined with electroacupuncture can effectively alleviate clinical symptoms
