Objective To explore the effect of humanistic care-based non-verbal communicative care in children with mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia(MPP). Methods A total of 80 children with MPP treated in a hospital in Bengbu from November 2020 to November 2021 were selected as subjects
who were assigned to a control group(n=40) and an observation group(n=40) using the random number table method. The children in the control group received routine care. The children in the observation group received humanistic care-based non-verbal communication care in addition to routine care. At the time of discharge
the compliance of the children in the two groups was evaluated using the compliance scale formulated by our hospital; the quality of survival of the children in the two groups before and after the intervention was evaluated using the Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory(PedsQL
Chinese version); the length of hospital stay and frequency of crying of the children in the two groups were compared. Results The compliance rate of children in the observation group was 92.50%
which was higher than that in the control group(65.00%)
and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). Before the intervention
there was no statistically significant difference in the PedsQL scores of the children in the 2 groups(P>0.05). After the intervention
the PedsQL scores of children in both groups were higher than those before the intervention
and the observation group was higher than the control group
with statistical significance(P<0.05). The children in the observation group had a shorter hospital stay and less frequent crying than those in the control group
and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). Conclusion The application of humanistic care-based non-verbal communication care in children with MPP can effectively improve the treatment compliance and survival quality of children
shorten the length of hospital stay and reduce the frequency of crying. These benefits justify a wider application of this technique clinically.
