Effect of imagination training in combination with occupational therapy on physical function and quality of life in patients with stroke hemiplegia[J]. Health Medicine Research and Practice, 2022,19(7):70-73.DOI:
Objective To investigate the effect of imagination training in combination with occupational therapy on physical function and quality of life in patients with stroke hemiplegia. Methods A total of 76 patients with stroke hemiplegia admitted to a hospital in Zhengzhou from June 2018 to June 2019 were selected and randomly assigned to a control group and an observation group
with 38 cases in each group. The patients in the control group and in the observation group received occupational therapy and imagination training(in addition to nursing care in the control group)
respectively. Patients in both groups received continuous intervention for 3 months. The clinical efficacy was compared between the two groups
and the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS) score
Fugl-Meyer Motor Function Scale score
Activities of Daily Living Scale(ADL) score
Berg Balance Scale score
Stroke Specific Quality of Life Scale(SS-QOL) score
thromboxane A
2
(TXA
2
) and prostaglandin I
2
(PGI
2
) levels were compared between the two groups before and after the intervention. Results Total effective rate of clinical efficacy in the observation group was 92.11%
which was significantly higher than that of the control group(71.05%)(P
<
0.05).After the intervention
the NIHSS score and serum TXA
2
levels in the two groups were lower than those before the intervention
and the observation group was lower than the control group
with statistically significant differences(P
<
0.05).After the intervention
the Fugl-Meyer
ADL
Berg
SS-QOL scores and serum PGI
2
levels in the two groups were higher than those before the intervention
and the observation group was higher than the control group
with statistically significant differences(P
<
0.05).Conclusion Imagination training in combination with occupational therapy can effectively reduce the degree of neurological deficits
improve limb motor function
balance ability
and activities of daily living
and improve the quality of life in stroke patients with hemiplegia. These benefits justify a wider application of this procedure in clinical practice.
