Objective To investigate the current status of employment pressure among graduates of normal majors from local universities.Methods A total of 171 graduates of normal majors from a local university in Guizhou Province were randomly selected

and the College Students′Employment Pressure Scale was used for this survey.Results The overall score of the scale was 1.597±0.381

and the individual domain scores for family pressure

social pressure

school/major pressure

peer pressure

and personal pressure were 2.173±0.457

2.260±0.971

1.534±0.595

1.401±0.512

and 1.622±0.500

respectively.The scores of these domains varied significantly among these graduates（F=64.946

P<0.05）;the scores of family pressure and social pressure domains were significantly higher than those of other domains（P<0.05）.Multivariate analysis of variance was performed with gender

major

and household register as independent variables

and these individual domain scores as dependent variables.Results showed that the main effect of major was significant（F=2.367

P<0.05）

as graduates of different majors had a significantly different score in the school/major pressure domain;graduates of art majors had a lower score in the school/major pressure domain compared with those of science majors（t=-3.722

P<0.05）.Conclusion Overall

graduates of normal majors from local universities have a medium-to-low level of employment pressure.Family pressure and social pressure are greater than school/major pressure

peer pressure

and personal pressure;and graduates of science majors have greater school/major pressure compared with those of art majors.Therefore

teaching reforms should be tailored for students of different majors

and together with students′parents

employment guidance should be provided in a scientific manner to relieve the employment pressure among university graduates.
