Objective To understand the occurrence of hyperuricemia and other related factors of college students.Method To adopt college students of certain institution of higher learning in Chengdu in the year2014
collect the information about their heath examination
conduct statistic analysis of the average value of the blood uric acid of the students and the detection rates of hyperuricemia
and conduct a questionnaire survey of the life style and dietary structure of some student participants. Results The average value of blood uric acid of male students was(391.8±65.7)μmol/L
and that of the female students was(294.9±58.4)μmol/L.The detection rate of hyperuricemia was 18.75% about which the detection rate of male and female students were 26.07%and 8.47%respectively.The comparative differences of the two were statistically significant(P<0.05).Unhealthy life style and unbalanced diet structure were major contributing factors to hyperuricemia. Conclusion High detection rate of hyperuricemia exists among college students who have a low knowledge level about the harmfulness of hyperuricemia.Institutions of higher learning should strengthen health education on their students and move to include the test of blood uric acid into their health examination system.
