Objective To observe the effect of emergency network for critically ill pregnant and lying-in women in Dongguan City and explore its application value of emergency aid in obstetrics and gynecology.MethodThe retrospective controlled study of maternal mortality from 2005 to 2012in Dongguan City was to analyze changes of maternal mortality in critically ill pregnant and lying-in women before and after the establishment of emergency network
changes of constituent ratio of their death and main reasons for death of critically ill pregnant and lying-in women. Results The average mortality rate was 42.2/100 000 from 2005to 2009 before the establishment of emergency network for critically ill pregnant and lying-in women
but after its implementation
the average mortality rate reduced to 17.8/100 000 in three years;and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01).Direct obstetric causes were the main reasons for the death of pregnant and lying-in women. Conclusion Since the emergency network was established in Dongguan
the maternal mortality rate has decreased significantly. The formation and improvement of emergency network in the obstetrical department can effectively reduce the risk of maternal delivery and this program helps to protect the safety of mother and baby and can promote the eugenic plan.
