Objective To discuss the possibility

feasibility

and effect of conducting painless gastroscopy and painless colonoscopy on senile patients.Method To select 198 patients who have taken painless gastroscopy or painless colonoscopy at our hospital from May 2007 to March 2011 as observation group

and select 184 senile patients who have taken conventional gastroscopy or colonoscopy at out hospital in the same period as comparison group

and to compare and observe their physical conditions

degree of satisfaction

and unsound reactions of the two groups.Results The differences between the patients of the two groups in the increase of blood pressure and heart rate

the degree of satisfaction

and the unsound reactions have statistical significance（P<0.05）.Conclusion Adopting painless gastroscopy and painless colonoscopy on senile patients is safer

more comfortable

and has better clinical effect which demonstrate the clinical importance of the measures in the practice of gastroscopic and colonoscopic examinations.
