Objective To observe the effect of integrated dental healthcare on incidence rate of dental caries in children and to probe into the function of dental healthcare played in pediatric healthcare.Method 300cases of children received in the outpatient of pediatric healthcare from January 2010to January 2011were selected and randomly divided into experimental group and control group with 150cases in each group.Children in the experimental group received integrated healthcare as health education
dietary intervention
pit and fissure sealing of teeth and fluoride iontophoresis while children in the control group didn′t take any intervention measures.A 12-month follow-up was conducted for all children and incidence of dental caries in children from the two groups was compared. Results Incidence rate of dental caries in the experimental group 6and 12months after the follow-up was 2.0%and 3.3%respectively while that in the control group was 6.7%and 12.0%respectively
and differences between the two groups were statistically significant(p<0.05or p<0.01).Conclusion Integrated dental healthcare can reduce incidence rate of dental caries in children
so it shall be further promoted in the pediatric healthcare.
