Objective To probe into the effect and experience of outpatient nursing intervention in elderly patients with hypertension.Method Intervention objects were observed one year after establishing health archives

popularizing knowledge on hypertension and intervening in health-related behaviors and the effect was analyzed.Results Awareness rate of hypertension among the intervention objects was improved from 27.4% to 89.6%

rate of blood pressure monitoring was improved from 32.9%to 87.6%

weight control rate was improved from 43.4%to 89.2%

rate of taking medicine on time was improved from 31.1%to 95.2%;proportion of rational diet

moderate exercise

smoking cessation and alcohol control was remarkably improved compared with that before intervention

and the differences were statistically significant（p<0.01）.Conclusion Outpatient nursing intervention has a significant effect on elderly patients with hypertension

which can improve the awareness rate and treatment rate of hypertension in patients

reduce risk factors of hypertension such as unhealthy life styles as well as improve the quality of life in elderly patients with hypertension.
