Objective: To investigate the inhibition of Hydroxycamptothecine (HCPT) on rabbit lens epithelial cells(RLECs) proliferation in vitro. Methods: The RLECs of the second and the third passage were placed in 96-well tissue culture plates and incubated for 24 hours，then exposed to different concentrations of HCPT for 24 and 72 hours. Determined by MTT colorimetric assay. Results: We found that HCPT could inhibit both the growth of RLECs and the attachment of RLECs. The IC50 of HCPT exposed to RLECs for 24 hours and 72 hours were 96.041μg /ml and 1.34μg/ml. Conclusion: The growth of RLECs can be effectively inhibited by HCPT.
