Seroepidemiological study of epstein-barr virus infection in children under 12 years old
Objective:To understand epstein-barr virus(EBV) infection status and epidemiological characteristics in children under 12 years old in Chongqing.Methods:539 serum samples of healthy children of 0~12 years old were collected from the Children’s Hospital of Chongqing Medical University.EBVCA-IgG and EBVCA-IgM in each sample were tested by ELISA.The database was established with Excel and statistical analysis was performed with software SPSS17.0.Results:The cumulative infection rate of EBV in children between 0~12 years old was 51.2% and recent infection rate was 9.7%.The recent infection rate of EBV in 0 year~
0.5 year~
1 year~
3 years~ and 6~12 years group was 20%
8.2%
12.4%
4.9% and 7.0%

1 years~
3 years~ and 6~12 years group was 70.9%
17.6%
33.1%
57.4% and 71.6%
respectively. Conclusion:EBV infection rate in children under 12 years in Chongqing is lower than 90%
the currently reported rate of EBV infection in children between 3~5 years old in China
and also lower than that in children under 3 years old in Beijing in 2006.However
it is still above the rate in western economically developed countries.Pre-school age is the peak period for EBV infection.
