Study on antiinflammatory and anti-oxidative effects of chrysin in early brain injury after subarachnoid hemorrhage in rats
Objective To investigate the antiinflammatory and antioxidative effects of chrysin in early brain injury after subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) in rats. Methods Established the rat model of SAH
and randomly divided 112 rats into 7 groups.The cytokines(IL-6
IL-1β
TNF-α) and oxidative stress products (MDA
ROS
SOD) levels in brain tissue of each group were detected
and the water content and neurological function scores of brain tissue were detected as well. Results The levels of IL-6
IL-1β
TNF-α
MDA and ROS were significantly decreased with chrysin intervention while the SOD activity was significantly increased. The effect of early intervention was better than that of late intervention (P<0.05)
and the effect of highdose chrysin was better than that of lowdose chrysin (P<0.05).The brain water content and edema were reduced by chrysin intervention (P<0.05). The neurological function score was significantly improved after early intervention with highdose chrysin (P<0.05). Conclusion Early intervention with chrysin can significantly reduce inflammation and oxidative stress
and it can improve brain edema and neurological function score.
