The effect of mindfulness training on psychological intervention in patients with cervical insufficiency
Objective To explore the effect of mindfulness training on psychological intervention in patients with cervical insufficiency. Methods A total of 109 patients receiving elective cervical cerclage for cervical insufficiency during pregnancy admitted to a hospital in Henan Province from September 2018 to January 2021 were selected as subjects. They were assigned to a control group(n=54) and an observation group(n=55) using the random number table method. Patients in the control group received conventional psychological interventions. Patients in the observation group received mindfulness training in addition to the conventional psychological interventions. The General Self Efficacy Scale(GSES) scores at pre-intervention and post-intervention(at discharge)
Adult Dispositional Hope Scale(ADHS)
Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Wellbeing Scale(WEMWBS)
Positive and Negative Affect Schedule(PANAS) and Medical Coping Modes Questionnaire(MCMQ) scores were compared between the two groups. Results Before the intervention
there was no statistically significant difference in the scores of avoidance
coping and submission dimensions in GSES
ADHS
WEMWBS
PANAS-P
PANASN and MCMQ between the 2 groups of patients(P>0.05). After the intervention
the scores of GSES
ADHS
WEMWBS
PANAS-P and MCMQ in the coping dimension were higher in the 2 groups than before the intervention
with the observation group higher than the control group
and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). Meanwhile
the scores of PANAS-N and MCMQ in the avoidance and submission dimensions were lower than those before the intervention in both groups
with the observation group lower than the control group
and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). Conclusion The use of mindfulness training on psychological interventions in patients with cervical insufficiency undergoing cervical cerclage can enhance patients’ self-efficacy
improve their mental health and coping modes
demonstrating marked effects. These benefits justify a wider application of this training.
