Intervention effect of MET technology combined with yoga training on the upper-crossed syndrome in college students
Objective To explore the intervention effect of muscle energy technique(MET) combined with yoga training on university students with upper-crossed syndrome(UCS).Methods Fifty college students who met the diagnostic criteria of UCS in a college in Huaihua City were selected as the subjects and divided into a control group(n=24) and a study group(n=26) using the random number method.Patients in the control group were trained with MET
and patients in the study group were trained with yoga after receiving MET.The frequency of intervention in both groups was 5 times per week
30 min per time
which lasted for 2 months. The visual analogue scale(VAS) scores
forward shoulder angle(FSA) and forward head angle(FHA) were compared before and after the intervention in the two groups. Results There was no statistically significant difference in VAS score
FHA and FSA before the intervention between the 2 groups(P>0.05).After the intervention
the FHA and FSA of patients in the 2 groups were smaller compared with pre-intervention
and the angle of improvement of FHA and FSA in the study group were greater than those in the control group
and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After the intervention
the VAS scores of patients in both groups were lower compared with pre-intervention
and the study group had lower VAS scores than the control group
and the improvement of VAS was higher than that in the control group
and the differences were statistically significant(P <0.05).Conclusion MET in combination with yoga training can effectively relieve the symptoms of shoulder and neck pain in UCS patients and improve the abnormal posture of round shoulder and neck forward flexion in daily life.
