Effects of continuing care based on 5E rehabilitation model on calcium and phosphorus metabolism in uremic hemodialysis patients
Objective To explore the effect of continuing care based on the 5E rehabilitation model on calcium and phosphorus metabolism in uremic hemodialysis patients. Methods One hundred and four patients with uremia treated with hemodialysis in a hospital in Nanyang from January 2019 to March 2021 were selected and divided into continuing group and control group using the random number table method
with 52 cases in each group. Patients in the control group received conventional care
and patients in the continuing group were given continuing care based on the 5E rehabilitation model on the basis of the control group. The renal function
calcium and phosphorus metabolism level and self-management ability before and after the intervention
as well as the incidence of complications
were compared between the two groups. Results The serum creatinine(Scr) and blood urea nitrogen(BUN) levels in the 2 groups were lower than before the intervention and lower in the continuing group than in the control group
with statistically significant differences(P <0.05). Blood calcium levels in the 2 groups were higher than before the intervention and higher in the continuing group than in the control group
while blood phosphorus levels were lower than before the intervention and lower in the continuing group than in the control group
all with statistically significant differences(P<0.05). The self-management scores of the two groups were higher than before the intervention and higher in the continuing group than in the control group
with statistically significant differences(P<0.05). The complication rate of patients in the continuing group was 3.85%(2/52)
which was lower than that of 11.54%(6/52) in the control group
but the difference was not statistically significant(χ2=1.219
P=0.270). Conclusion Continuing care based on the 5E rehabilitation model
when used in uremic hemodialysis patients
can help improve patients’ self-management ability
improve their renal function and calcium and phosphorus metabolism
as well as prevent complications.
