Effects of Pender health promotion model on health behaviors and self-care ability of patients with nasal polypectomy
Objective To explore the effect of Pender health promotion model on health behaviors and self-care ability of patients with nasal polypectomy. Methods Ninety-eight patients admitted to a hospital in Henan who underwent nasal polypectomy from May 2017 to September 2020 were selected and divided into experimental and control groups using the random number table method
with 49 cases in each group.Patients in the control group were given conventional care means after surgery
and patients in the experimental group received the Pender health promotion model on the basis of the control group
and both groups were intervened for 2 weeks. The patients in the two groups were compared in terms of health behavior
self-care ability
occurrence of adverse reactions during hospitalization and nursing satisfaction before and after the intervention. Results Before the intervention
there was no statistically significant difference between the health promotion lifestyle profile(HPLP) and exercise of self-care agency(ESCA) scores of the two groups(P>0.05);after the intervention
the HPLP and ESCA scores of the two groups were higher than before the intervention
and the experimental group was higher than the control group
and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions was 4.08% in the experimental group
which was lower than that of 20.40% in the control group
and the difference was statistically significant(χ~2=6.078
P=0.014).The satisfaction rate of patient care in the experimental group was 97.96%
which was higher than 83.67% in the control group
and the difference was statistically significant(χ~2=4.404
P=0.036).Conclusion The Pender health promotion model used for patients with nasal polypectomy helps to improve patients’ health behavior and self-care ability
reduce the incidence of adverse reactions
and has higher nursing satisfaction.
