Effect of comprehensive care program on nutritional status and quality of life of patients undergoing laparoscopic radical gastric cancer surgery
Objective To explore the effects of a comprehensive nursing program(based on problem-oriented quality nursing and participatory diet nursing) on the nutritional status and quality of life of patients undergoing laparoscopic radical gastric cancer surgery. Methods Eighty gastric cancer patients who underwent laparoscopic radical gastric cancer surgery in a hospital in Henan Province from June 2019 to May 2021 were selected as the study subjects
and the patients were divided into observation group and control group using the random number table method
with 40 cases in each group.Patients in the control group received problem-oriented quality care
and patients in the observation group were given a comprehensive care plan(problem-oriented quality care and participatory diet care). The patients in the two groups were compared in terms of their Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment(PG-SGA) scores and Core Quality of Life questionnaire(QLQ-C30) scores before surgery and at 3 months after surgery;the complications and recovery-related indexes at discharge
including first anal discharge
defecation
intake of liquid diet
and length of hospital stay
were compared between the two groups. Results At 3 months after surgery
the PG-SGA scores of the 2 groups were lower than those before surgery
and the observation group was lower than the control group
and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).At 3 months after surgery
the QLQ-C30 scores in the domains of function and general health status were higher in the 2 groups than before surgery
and the observation group was higher than the control group;the QLQ-C30 scores in the symptom domain were lower in the 2 groups than before surgery
and the observation group was lower than the control group
and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The complication rate of patients in the observation group was 5.00%
which was lower than that in the control group(22.5%)
and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The patients in the observation group had shorter first anal discharge
first defecation
first intake of liquid diet and hospitalization time than those in the control group
and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The clinical effect of the comprehensive care program(based on problem-oriented quality care and participatory diet care) in the care of patients undergoing laparoscopic radical gastric cancer is significant
which can effectively improve patients’ nutritional status and quality of life
promote patients’ rapid recovery and reduce the incidence of complications
and is worthy of clinical promotion.
