Clinical effect of Xingpi Quyu Tongmai decoction combined with betahistine mesylate in the treatment of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo
Objective To explore the clinical effect of Xingpi Quyu Tongmai decoction combined with betahistine mesylate in the treatment of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. Methods A total of 60 patients with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo treated in a hospital in Henan Province from November 2018 to December 2020 were randomly divided into control group and observation group
with 30 cases in each group. Patients in the control group were treated with betastine mesylate tablets
and observation group were treated with Xingpi Quyu Tongmai decoction on the basis of the control group. The clinical efficacy
TCM syndrome score and dizziness handicap inventory(DHI) before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of the observation group was 96.67%
which was higher than that of the control group(73.33%)
and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). Before treatment
there was no significant difference in TCM syndrome scores between the two groups(P>0.05). After treatment
the syndrome scores of visual rotation
head weight
nausea
vomiting and chest tightness in the two groups were lower than those before treatment; and those in the observation group were lower than those in the control group; the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). Before treatment
there was no significant difference in the degree of vertigo between the two groups(P>0.05). After treatment
the scores and total scores of body
emotion and function in the DHI among the two groups were lower than those before treatment; and those in the observation group were lower than those in the control group; the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). Conclusion Xingpi Quyu Tongmai decoction combined with betahistine mesylate tablets is effective in the treatment of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo
