Objective: To observe the efficacy of Fangshuan Prescription in prevention of lower extremity deep venous thrombosis（DVT） after gynecological pelvic surgery. Methods: Sixty patients who were admitted to our hospital for benign gynecological diseases and underwent pelvic surgery from January 2016 to January 2017 were enrolled as subjects and randomly and equally divided into experimental group and control group. The experimental group received lower extremity massage and oral administration of Fangshuan Prescription immediately after surgery

while the control group only received lower extremity massage after surgery. The plasma D-dimer level

and incidence of DVT were compared between the two groups before surgery and at 3 and 7 days after surgery. Results: In the control group

the D-dimer level and plasma and whole blood viscosity indices were significantly higher at 3 days after surgery than before surgery（P < 0.05）; the plasma and whole blood viscosity indices were significantly higher at 7 days after surgery than at 3 days after surgery（P < 0.05）. At 3 and 7 days after surgery

the experimental group had significantly lower D-dimer level and plasma and whole blood viscosity indices than the control group（P < 0.05）. There was no significant difference in the incidence of DVT between the two groups（P > 0.05）. Conclusion: Fangshuan Prescription can inhibit thrombosis and substantially reduce the incidence of DVT after gynecological pelvic surgery by improving blood flow velocity and regulating high blood coagulation and high viscosity.
