Effects of a community-based integrated health management model on patients with non-demented vascular cognitive impairment
Objective To explore the impact of community-based integrated health management model on patients with non-demented vascular cognitive impairment(VCIND). Methods Sixty-four patients with VCIND treated in a hospital in Henan Province from January 2018 to December 2018 were selected for the study
and the patients were divided into a study group and a control group using a random number table
with 32 cases in each group.Patients in the control group received relevant knowledge education
while patients in the study group received nutritional intervention
physical exercise
cognitive training and comprehensive community health management for regulation of metabolic and vascular risk factors. The Montreal Cognitive Assessment(MoCA) scores
the time required for the Trail Making Test(TMT) and the Barthel Index(BI) scores at 12 weeks of intervention were compared between the two groups. Results Before the intervention
there were no statistically significant differences in MoCA scores
time taken for TMT
and BI scores between the 2 groups(P >0.05). At 12 weeks of intervention
the MoCA scores and BI scores of the two groups were higher than before the intervention
and those in the study group were significantly higher than the control group(P <0.05); at 12 weeks of intervention
the TMT time of the two groups was shorter than before the intervention
and that in the study group was significantly shorter than the control group(P <0.05). Conclusion The community-based integrated health management model can effectively promote the cognitive function of VCIND patients
improve their ability to perform activities of daily living
and help delay the progression of VCIND.
