Objective To explore how rationality for clinical laboratory clinical skills examination mode in the resident second stage and to provide scientific and reasonable basis for the second stage training. Method 2014 to 2016 in inspection division second stage hospital doctors in their clinical skills examination personnel and examination results were statistically analyzed. Compare the difference of the results of the examination between base hospitals and non-base hospitals

T test and X2 test were used and a≤ 0.05stands for statistically significant difference. Result From the assessment through the pass rate

three level hospitals are higher than non-three level hospitals（P=0.01）

the base hospital is higher than non-base hospital（P=0.01）

physician passing rate higher than technician. There was statistical significance（P=0.02 and 0.01） in the auxiliary examination of the written test module of three assessment modules in 2014 and 2015. In 2015 and in 2016

there was significant（P=0.02 and 0.01） in the mean scores of case analysis. Conclusion The second stage clinical skills assessment model is more reasonable

the non-base and non-three level hospitals should strengthen the training and management of the second stage.
