he objective of study is to establish suitable large animal tumor model for experimental study of breast carcinoma. The VX2 carcinoma tissue mass was transplanted in the breast tissue of female New Zealand Rabbits. The biological features of tumor then was observed. Results showed that the tumorigenic rate was 100%. Survival time of rabbits bearing carcinoma was approximately 58±12 days. Metastases to regional lymph nodes and lungs appeared in four weeks after transplantation.Tumor diameter was about 4.67±0.47mm within one week and 16.21 ±3.29mm within three weeks after transplantation. Histopathology indicated that tumor grew in breast tissue and infiltrated into the normal breast tissue. It had the similar biological features of VX2 carcinoma transplanted in other sites of rabbits. It is concluded that the transplanted breast squamous cell carcinoma in the rabbit had steady biological features. This makes it possible to set up a reliable large animal model for further basic and clinical study of breast carcinoma
