ifty females(ASA1-2)scheduled for termination of pregnancy were randomized into 2 equal groups ; Group 1 was infused intravenously with propofol 1mg/kg and ketamine0.2mg/kg and Group 2 with propofol 2-2.5mg/kg alone. In both
additional dose of 20-50mg propofol was given if necessery
Blood pressure
heart rate and SpO2 were monitored continuously before and after the administration of anesthetion. The duration of anesthetion
the time of regaining consciousness and the total amount of propofol were recorded. This study show that small dose of ketamine can enhance the action of propofol.Addition of ketamine does not cause circulatory and respiratory inhibition and there is no influence on the quality of anesthesia. The patients become conscious at usual time.It is concluded that both propofol alone and combined use of propofol and ketamine are effective and safe in anesthesia for induced abortion
