predisposing factors and susceptibility to antimicrobial agents of S. maltophilia in nosocomial infection. Methods: S. maltophilia were collected from 32 cases
the analysis was done the distribution
predisposing factors and drug resistance of S. maltophilia isolated from our hospital in 1999. Results: The distribution results showed that the 32 strains were widely found in many departments of the hospital
18 strains were detected from department of pulmonary medicine
accounting for 56.3% of the total
6 strains were detected from the RICU. The susceptible test showed that all isolates were resistant to imipenem
the strains were highly resistant to β-Lactams/ezymase inhibitor and Aminoglycoside; and a lower resistance rate to ciproflxacin. All patients suffered from underlying conditions
antibiotics were used in all patients and stesoids were used in 22 cases. Conclusion: These data indicate that S. maltophilia is an important opportunistic pathogenic bacteria and are multidrug-resistant.
