Objective: To study the effect of DM on the abdominal operation and blood glucose control during perioperative period. Methods: The perioperational treatments for 623 cases of patients complicated with DM
who needed abdominal operation
were retrospectively analyzed. Results: There were 52.2% of patients with confirmed preoperative diagnosis and treatment of DM
47.8% of patients with atypical symptoms who were found out after hospitalization. There were 7.7% of wound infection
1.4% of incision dehiscence
3.3% of ketoacidosis
1.1% of cases who had died. Conclusion: Blood glucose should be actively controlled for those patients with blood glucose more than 9mmol/l
while blood glucose less than 9mmol/L will not affect the safety of operation and the occurrence of complications.
