bcl-2 and mdr1 in acute leukemia in children and its clinical significance. Methods: The mRNA of survivin
bcl-2 and mdr1 in all patients were detected by RT-PCR.Results: The positive expression rates of survivin
bcl-2 and mdr1 in the newly diagnosed group were 60.47%(26/43N)
60.47%(26/43N) and 34.88%(15/43N)
respectively
all of which were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the positive expression of survivin
bcl-2 and mdr1 between acute lymphocytic leukemia(ALL) and acute myeloid leukemia(AML) group(P>0.05).The positive expression rates of survivin and bcl-2 in the CR group were significant lower than those in the newly diagnosed group(P<0.05).There were 3 patients and 2 patients with positive co-expression of survivin
bcl-2 and mdr1 in newly diagnosed group and RE group respectively. The WBC was not significantly different between positive survivin and negative survivin group(P>0.05).Conclusions: survivin
bcl-2 and mdr1 have higher expression in children with AL
which may contribute to the pathogenesis and the progress of the leukemia. The expression of survivin and bcl-2 is not related to the type of leukemia and the WBC.The co-expression of survivin bcl-2 and mdrl may indicate the poor prognosis of leukemia in children.
