Objective:To exam sinus heart rate turbulence in patients with essential hypertension(EH)and left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH)

and to analyzeautonomic nervous system of the patients.Methods:The study group consisted of 89 patients with EH.Based on echocardiogram

the hypertensives were divided into those with left ventricular hypertrophy(LVH)(n=45)and those without LVH (n=44).The control group is normotensive participants(n=47).In each subject

24 hours dynamic electrocardiogramwas recorded

Turbulence Onset(TO)and Turbulence Slope(TS)were calculated and the difference was compared.Results:The difference in TO in three group was statistically significant(P<0.01).TO was higher but TS was lawer in EH group with LVH and EH group without LVH

as compared with those in control group(P<0.01).The abnormal incidence rates of TO and TS were high(P<0.01).TO was higher

but TS was lawer in EH group with LVH than those in EH group without LVH(.P<0.01).The abnormal incidence rates of TO and TS were high(P<0.01).Conclusion:HRT of EH patients becomes significantly low

and the autonomic nerve function in EH patients with LVH is injured more seriously

This suggests that dysfunction of autonomic nervous system hasoccurred in patients with EH

and the autonomic nerve function in EH patients with LVH is injured more seriously.
