Objective:To investigate the characteristics of brachial ankle pulse wave velocity(baPWV)in patients with essential hypertension

and that in patients with essential hypertension associated with coronary artery disease.Methods:The baPWV of 28 patients with essential hypertension was measured

the baPWV of 26 patients with essential hypertension associated with coronary artery disease confirmed by coronary angiography was also measured

and the baPWV of 25 control group’s patients was measured.Results:baPWV was significantly higher in patients with essential hypertension than that in contral group

and baPWV is much higher in patients with essential hypertension associated with coronary artery disease than that in patients with essential hypertension.Conclusions:The results suggest that vascular lesion is exsist in patients with essential hypertension

and the vascular stiffness in patients with essential htpertension associated with coronary artery disease is increased than that in patients with essential hypertension.
