Objective:Toinvestigate the effects of selective COX-2 inhibitor on proliferation ofbladder carcinoma in vivoand in vitro.Methods:RT-PCR studied the expression of COX-2 in T24 cell. The inhibitory effects of Meloxicam on the growth of T24 cells were studied in vitro by MTT method.Meanwhile
the inhibitory rate of tumor growth in xenografted bladder carcinoma of T24 cells in nude mice treated by Meloxicam was determined.Results:RT-PCR showed that the expression of C0X-2 mRNA was strong in T24 bladder carcinoma cell.MTT study showed that Meloxicam produced a dose-dependent inhibition of T24 proliferation. The rate of tumor growth inhibition by Meloxicam in T24 cell burden mice was 61.2%.No side effect was observed in all the treatment groups. Conclusion: Selective COX-2 inhibitor can significantly inhibit bladder carcinoma of T24 cells in vivo and in vitro and may be useful for prevention and therapy of bladder carcinoma.
