Objective:To assess in a systematic review the therapeutic effects of fluorescent light-guided transurethral resection of superficial bladder cance. Methods:Published prospective randomized controlled trials(RCT) on the treatment of superficial bladder cancer by transurethral resection under fluorescent cystoscope were searched from Pubmed
Cochrane library
CBMdisc
Embase
Wanfang
Weipu and other databases and selected according to prespecified standard.Relevant congress abstracts and journals were also searched by hand. The review process followed the guidelines of the Cochrane Collaboration. Two reviewers evaluated independently both trial eligibility
methodological quality and data extraction. The eligible studies were included and analyzed using RevMan 5.0.Results:Totally ten randomized control trials including 2314 patients were eligible for the criteria. The meta-analysis showed that the residual cancer rate in fluorescent group was statistically significant lower than that in control group(RR 0.40
95%CI 0.29-0.56;P<0.05)
and the risk of early and long-term(about one year)recurrence was also statistically significant lower than that in control group(RR 0.43
95% CI 0.23-0.81;P<0.05 and RR 0.78
95%CI 0.63-0.96;P<0.05).Conclusion:The transurethral resection of superficial bladder cancer by fluorescent cystoscopy can reduce the residual cancer rate and the risk of recurrence. While the present study only included a few studies and small samples
more high quality trials with large samples and longer follow-up are expected.
