Objective To investigate the longterm efficacy of Limbal autograft transplantation(LAT) combined with mitomycin C (MMC) in the treatment of pterygium. Methods A Total of 72 patients(96 eyes) with pterygium admitted into our hospital from June 2016 to September 2017 were divided into observation group(36 cases

58 eyes) and control group (36 cases

38 eyes) according to surgical method.The observation group was treated with LAT combined with MMC

and the control group underwent simple resection of pterygium.The corneal astigmatism

postoperative complications and recurrence in 3 months and 6 months after operation were compared between the two groups

and relevant statistical analysis was performed.Results Corneal astigmatism decreased in 3 months after operation of both groups

but the corneal astigmatism in the observation group decreased from (2.21±0.78) to (0.75±0.29)

while that in the control group decreased from (2.26±0.87) to (1.89±0.81)

the difference was significant（P<0.05）.The recurrence rates in 3 months (3.4%) and 6 months (3.4%) after operation of the observation group were lower than those of control group (21.1%

26.0%)

the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). The incidence of postoperative complications was 6.9% in the observation group and 7.8% in the control group

the difference was not significant(P>0.05). Conclusion LAT combined with MMC in the treatment of pterygium can significantly improve astigmatism and reduce postoperative recurrence rates in patients.
