Objective To explore the value of health education guided by symptom experience-management strategy-management effect program in perioperative urinary incontinence(UI) care of patients with lumbar disc herniation(LDH).Methods A total of 110 patients with LDH and UI admitted to our hospital from January 2019 to January 2021 were randomly assigned to the control group(n=55) and observation group(n=55) by convenience sampling.Patients in the control group received routine health education
and patients in the observation group health education guided by the symptom experience-management strategymanagement effect program. The UI knowledge mastery
clinical efficacy
and complications were compared between the two groups. Results After education
the mastery of UI knowledge was improved in both groups
and the improvement in the observation group was significantly greater than that in the control group(all P<0.05). The international consultation on incontinence questionnaire long form(ICI-Q-LF) scores decreased and the exercise of self-care agency scale(ESCA) scores increased in both groups. The ICI-Q-LF scores in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group
while the ESCA scores were significantly higher than those in the control group(all P<0.05). Results showed that 29.09% of the patients in the control group developed incontinent dermatitis
higher than that in the observation group(7.27%
P<0.05); 18.18% of the patients in the control group developed urinary tract infection
higher than that in the observation group(5.45%
P<0.05). Conclusion The use of the symptom experience-management strategymanagement effect program-guided health education in the care of LDH patients with UI can improve the mastery of UI knowledge
reduce their clinical symptoms
and lower the incidence of complications. These benefits justify a wider application of this technique clinically.
