Objective To explore the effect of WeChat-based multidisciplinary teamwork in the continuing care of stroke patients. Methods A total of 112 stroke patients admitted to a hospital in Hanzhong City from October 2019 to March 2021 were selected as the subjects
who were assigned to a control group(n=56) and an observation group(n=56) using the random number table method. Patients in the control group received routine continuing care
and patients in the observation group WeChat-based multidisciplinary teamwork care in addition to the continuing care. The Barthel Index Rating Scale
Exercise of Self-Care Agency Scale(ESCA)
and World Health Organization Quality of Life assessment(WHOQOL-100) scores at the time of discharge and at 3 months of discharge were compared between the 2 groups. Results Before the intervention
there was no statistically significant difference in the Barthel Index scale scores
ESCA scores in each dimension and its total scores
and WHOQOL-100 scores and its total scores in the 2 groups(P>0.05). After the intervention
the Barthel Index scale scores
ESCA scores and its total scores
and WHOQOL-100 scores and its total scores in both groups were higher than those before the intervention
and the observation group was higher than the control group
with statistically significant difference(P<0.05). Conclusion The WeChat public platform-based multidisciplinary teamwork of continuing care effectively improves the activities of daily living
self-care ability and quality of life for stroke patients after discharge. These advantages justify a wider application of this technique clinically.
