Objective To investigate the effects of continuing care on the left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF) and readmission rate of patients with chronic heart failure. Methods Seventy-nine patients with chronic heart failure admitted to a hospital in Liaoning from January 2018 to June 2020 were enrolled and divided into a control group(n=37) and an observation group(n=42) by a random number table. Patients in the control group received conventional post-discharge interventions and patients in the observation group received continuing care. The compliance to treatment
readmission rate and adverse cardiovascular events as well as the LVEF
self-rating depression scale(SDS) and self-rating anxiety scale(SAS) scores before and after intervention were compared between the 2 groups. Results The LVEF of patients in both groups was greater than that before care at 2 and 4 weeks after care
and that in the observation group was greater than that in the control group
with statistically significant differences(P<0.05). The SAS and SDS scores of patients were lower than those before care in both groups and lower in the observation group than in the control group
with statistically significant differences(P<0.05). The readmission rate and the incidence of adverse cardiovascular events were lower in the observation group than in the control group
and the differences were statistically significant(P <0.05). Conclusion Continuing care can help improve cardiac function and psychological status of patients with chronic heart failure and reduce the risk of readmission and adverse cardiovascular events.
