Objective To explore the current situation of and influencing factors for nonsuicidal self-injury（NSSI） in adolescent patients with major depressive disorder（MDD）. Methods Ninety cases of adolescent MDD patients who attended a child and adolescent psychiatric department in a hospital in Zhumadian

from March 2019 to December 2020 were selected for the study. The patients were divided into an observation group（with NSSI

63 cases） and a control group（without NSSI

27 cases） according to whether they exhibit NSSI or not. The demographic and environmental information of the patients were collected using our self-designed general information questionnaire

and the risk factors for NSSI in adolescent MDD patients were analyzed by multi-factor logistic regression. Results The differences were not statistically significant（P >0.05） when comparing the gender composition

parents’ marital status

self-rated academic performance

and whether they felt lonely

while the differences were statistically significant（P<0.05） when comparing the Barratt scores

depression level

family pattern

whether they were subjected to school violence

parenting style

and Adolescent Self-Rating Life Events Checklist（ASLEC） scores. Multifactorial logistic regression analysis showed that Barratt scores

and ASLEC scores were all independent risk factors for adolescent MDD patients with NSSI（P<0.05）. Conclusion Factors affecting adolescent MDD patients with NSSI include Barratt scores

family pattern

school violence

parenting style

and the above factors should be taken into account by families

schools and the society to prevent adolescent MDD patients from developing NSSI.
