differential diagnosis and treatment of primary mesenchymal chondrosarcoma of the bladder. Methods Retrospectively reviewing the diagnosis and treatment of a case of primary mesenchymal chondrosarcoma of the bladder
reviewing the relevant literature
and summarizing the clinical features of primary mesenchymal chondrosarcoma of the bladder. Results In this paper
we report a case of a female
69 years old
with recurrent urinary frequency and urgency and painful urination for 3 months as the main clinical manifestation. She had cervical cancer 12 years ago
which was treated with radiation therapy and clinically cured. Ultrasound and radiographs suggested bladder stones
and cystoscopy revealed a stone-like mass attached to the left wall of the bladder. Conclusion Mesenchymal chondrosarcoma of the bladder is an extremely rare malignant tumor of the bladder
the etiology of which is not clear at present. The most common initial symptom for this disease is sarcoid hematuria
but there are also cases with urinary tract irritation
difficulty in urination
and fluid accumulation and obstruction in the upper urinary tract as the initial symptom. The disease is highly malignant and prone to recurrence
early metastasis and poor prognosis; it should be treated with radical cystectomy once diagnosed.
