Objective To analyze the prevalence and influencing factors of acne among students in a university in Shandong Province
so as to provide evidence for the prevention and treatment of acne. Methods From October to December 2019
The method of stratified cluster sampling was used. A total of 5 768 undergraduates and postgraduates were selected from a university in Shandong Province to carry out a questionnaire survey for the prevalence of acne. Results There were 2 020 acne patients in this study
with a prevalence rate of 35.02%. The prevalence rate of boys was 37.54%
which was higher than that of girls(32.79%)(P<0.05). The difference of acne prevalence rate among different grades was also statistically significant(P<0.05). Among the subjects with acne
there were 1 573 cases of grade Ⅰ(77.87%)
408 cases of grade Ⅱ(20.20%)
25 cases of grade Ⅲ(1.24%) and 14 cases of grade Ⅳ(0.69%). The results of Logistic regression analysis showed that family history of acne
the time to fall asleep every night
daily sleep time
physical exercise
daily exposure to electronic screen
diet preference
skin type
daily facial cleaning times
facial cleaning materials
long-term life exposure
constipation
study and life stress
and drinking habits were all influencing factors of acne(P<0.05). Conclusion Acne is a chronic inflammation of the face caused by a variety of factors
which seriously affects the psychology and social interaction of patients
which can also easily lead to lower learning efficiency and affect patients’ quality of life. Health education should be strengthened for college students to guide them to change their bad lifestyle in order to eliminate the risk factors
so as to reduce the incidence of acne and prevent recurrence.
