Objective To investigate the current status of nursing staff’s knowledge

attitude and behavior about novel coronavirus pneumonia

and to provide ascientific basis for nursing management.Methods This study used wjx.cn to conduct a rapid web-based questionnaire survey on 661 nurses（tertiary

specialist

and epidemicdesignated hospitals in Zhuhai and surrounding cities of Zhuhai such as Guangzhou and Shenzhen） from February 7-9

2020.Six hundred and thirty-six valid questionnaires were recovered

with a valid questionnaire return rate of 96%.Results There was astatistically significant difference in the knowledge and attitude dimension scores among nursing staff with different education levels（P<0.05）.There was astatistically significant difference（P<0.05） when comparing the knowledge dimension scores of nursing staff involved or not involved in the treatment of suspected or confirmed cases of novel coronavirus pneumonia.Nursing staff scored 19.25±1.29 on the knowledge dimension

41.35±2.78 on the attitude dimension

and 29.22±0.85 on the behavior dimension of novel coronavirus pneumonia.The top three topics selected by nursing staff in the knowledge dimension in terms of percentage of complete knowledge were "transmission route of novel coronavirus pneumonia"

"incubation period of novel coronavirus pneumonia" and "preventive measures of novel coronavirus pneumonia".The top 3 topics with the highest percentage of very positive choices in the attitude dimension were " during the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic

one should not‘create rumors

believe rumors

and or spread rumors" "care about the knowledge of novel coronavirus pneumonia and the latest epidemic situation" and " care about the health care workers psychological condition".The top 3 topics in the behavioral dimension

which were responded by the proportion of people with completely positive answers

were " instructing patients to wear masks"

" wearing masks in public"

and "increasing the frequency of hand washing".There was a positive correlation between the ratings of nursing staff knowledge

attitude

and behavior dimensions（r=1.301

0.177;all P<0.05）.Conclusion The overall level of knowledge

attitude and behavior of nursing staff about novel coronavirus pneumonia was high

but the breadth of knowledge about novel coronavirus pneumonia should be broadened and the depth of knowledge in this area should be sought;the training of nursing staff with different education levels should be emphasized

especially the knowledge training of nursing staff with lower education levels should be strengthened;the clinical medical institutions should pay more attention to the physical and mental health of nursing staff and establish comprehensive preventive and control measures for public health emergencies.
