Objective: To investigate compliance with re-examination in breast cancer patients within two years after surgery and the influencing factors
and to provide theoretical suggestions for improving patients’ compliance with re-examination. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was performed on 368 breast cancer patients for investigating the patients’ compliance with re-examination within two years after surgery
and the influencing factors were analyzed. Results: Of all the breast cancer patients
22.55% complied with re-examination within two years after operation. Reasons for poor compliance mainly included: poor awareness of postoperative re-examination or reluctance to spend time on it(34.39%)
limited economic conditions(23.15%)
and fear or concern of cancer recurrence/metastasis or optimism bias(17.89%). The compliance significantly differentiated between different ages
places of residence
monthly family incomes
education levels
or occupations(P < 0.05). Multivariate analysis showed that the compliance was associated with age
income
occupation
education level
and place of residence. Conclusion: Patient compliance is poor in terms of re-examination within two years after breast cancer surgery
and it is associated with age
income
occupation
education level
and place of residence.
