Objective To explore the clinical effect of Tianma Gouteng decoction combined with irbesartan in the treatment of hypertension with liver-yang hyperactivity.Methods One hundred patients of hypertension with liver-yang hyperactivity admitted to a hospital in Dalian from November 2018 to May 2019 were selected as the research subjects.A random number table was used to divide the patients into a control group and a study group

with 50 cases in each group.The patients in the control group were treated with irbesartan

and the patients in the study group were treated with Tianma Gouteng decoction combined with irbesartan.The scores for the major symptoms in the traditional Chinese medicine（TCM）symptom scale

average 24 h systolic blood pressure（SBP）and diastolic blood pressure（DBP）and the levels of homocysteine（Hcy）of the two groups were compared before and after treatment;the efficacy of the two therapies was also compared.Results After treatment

the scores for dizziness

red eyes

dry mouth and bitterness

waist and knee soreness

irritability and tinnitus of both groups in the TCM symptom scale were lower than before treatment

and those of the study group were lower than those of the control group.All differences were statistically significant（P<0.05）.After treatment

the 24 h SBP

DBP and Hcy level of the study group were（150.11±43.03）mmHg（1 mmHg=0.133 kPa）

（92.28±25.34）mmHg and（12.21±3.04）μmol/mL

respectively

which were lower than the（161.22±50.52）mmHg

（110.20±30.06）mmHg and（19.29±5.27）μmol/mL of the control group;the SBP

DBP and Hcy level of both groups were lower than before treatment.All differences were statistically significant（P<0.05）.The total efficacy in the study group was 88.0%

higher than that in the control group

which was 64.0%

and the difference was statistically significant（P<0.05）.Conclusion Combining Tianma Gouteng decoction with irbesartan in the treatment of hypertension with liver-yang hyperactivity can effectively relieve symptoms like dizziness

waist and knee soreness and irritability

reduce 24 h SBP and DBP as well as Hcy levels

and enhance the treatment efficacy.Therefore

it is worthy of wider application.
